Unnaturally Natural

Unnaturally Natural is mixed media art quilt. It is constructed in three separate sections and joined as a whole with the mat and frame. I am inspired by local flora and fauna as well as aquatic species. This isn't surprising because my father was very interested in the natural world as well. He was a taxidermist and I have fond childhood memories of him painstakingly painting fish mounts by airbrush. My favorite were the rainbow trout with all of their magnificent colors and spots. I have tried to capture this same detail in this piece utilizing fabric, thread and angelina fibers.
