Beauty in the Flood - Lemon Fair River
I was enchanted by the crossing zig zag lines created by the floodplain of the Lemon Fair River viewed from a sculpture park in Shoreham VT. The muddy banks accentuated the flow of the river across the beautiful view of farm fields. That, and the road cutting at an angle across the valley made this view so much more interesting to paint. Floods create so much damage, the farmer has lost quite a few of the round bales pictured in the mud that he has labored to put up. But there is also a raw beauty in what the water has changed, sometimes a permanent change, sometimes just a brief enlargement of the river channel.
