I love painting rural scenes and a favorite subject is cows. They used to be everywhere when I was a young girl and now a short 40 years or so later they are getting pretty hard to find on the NH roadsides. I've painted this particular location a number of times because I love the way the hills roll and the clouds overtake them. As storms pass by they shadow one hill and illuminate the other. Cows simply complete the feel of my hometowns. This piece is painted using professional oil paints on a pre-stretched canvas. In my usual style the hues are heavily saturated and there is a bit of contrasting colors. Earth tones work to marry nature and livestock together.
